S2 Orienteering at Mugdock Country Park September 2015
The first trip for our new CfE S2 pupils took us to Mugdock Country park near Milngavie. Pupils had a great time using their map skills to find their way round the basic orienteering course. Many pupils were up for the challenge and became very competitive with each other. The first 4 groups returned with only a few seconds separating their final times. Other groups preferred to stroll round the course and enjoy the scenery along the way. Well done to everyone who took part - what a great start to the term!

Nat 4/5/6 Loch Lomond Visit
Our first excursion of the new session took the National 4/5/6 pupils on a day trip to Balmaha in the beautiful Loch Lomond National park. The park rangers Adam & Helen spent the day with us talking about land use and land use conflict on the loch and in the surrounding national park area.
The sun shone and we visited some amazing vantage points giving us great views of the loch.
Our main findings of the day;

Our main findings of the day;
- There are a lot of land use conflicts in the area
- campers can be very irresponsible but new local bye-laws have cut down on 'wild camping' on the loch shore
- ducks like having their picture taken but don't really want to be lifted up and/or eaten. We know they taste good Jordan!!

Allander Water Nat 4/5 Field Trip
Our final river study field trip for Nat 4/5 took us to 3 parts of the Allander Water in & around Milngavie. We had fantastic weather and were able to prove beyond any doubt that dogs are totally rubbish at field work!

Kindrogan Trip march 2015
Our annual visit to Kindrogan Field Studies Centre included some fantastic weather and a solar eclipse...not to mention some cool (and a bit wet) river studies and a bit of crate-building too.

S1 trip to Our Dynamic Earth Dec & Jan 2014/15
Our S1 trips to Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh were so popular this year than we had to hire an extra coach...and we still had a reserve list!
Pupils enjoyed the updated parts of the tour before sitting back and settling down to enjoy the movie in the show dome. After a tasty lunch - mostly popcorn and chips'n'cheese'n'gravy we headed back 'to the west'. Well done to everyone for behaving well and completing almost all of your worksheets.

National 4/5/6 Loch Lomond Visit
National 4/5 took a trip to 'the other side' of Loch Lomond for a wee change of scenery. We found out about the glaciated land use and impact of tourism on the area. The 'string game' was a great way of finding out how land use conflicts can impact a wide number of land users.
